Community Justice Court Worker
Location: Winnipeg: Cree Crescent
(One-year term position with a potential extension to March 31, 2027)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Community Justice Court Worker for the Urban Office in Winnipeg, to support daily office operations and ensure smooth workflow. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of advocacy, case management, and administrative tasks, including data entry, document preparation, filing, scheduling, and responding to inquiries. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office software, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain organized filing both physically and electronic
- Answer calls and direct clients accordingly
- Prepare presentation materials or documents as required by management
- Coordinate events and manage related advertising
- Attend court: record and client advocacy on update and review
- Respect the Confidentiality of staff and clients
- Provide Client Assessments, initial and ongoing client assessments/interviews, intake forms and followup
- Provide Client Sessions, schedule daily and weekly sessions surrounding mediation issues pertaining to, mental health, domestic issues/violence, bullying, communication, relationships, LGBTQ+ dilemmas, destructive behavior patterns, problem solving, etc.
- Implement, facilitate meetings and workshops
- Work closely with federal and provincial liaison workers in supports of conditional and release supports.
- Complete client data reports; record keeping, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Follow-up: Co-construct individual and family follow-up plans with clients to monitor and ensure client’s on-going progress.
- Be responsible for pre- and post-charge referrals
- Meet regularly with justice committee and justice director
- Other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- Education in Native Studies, Conflict Resolution Studies or Social Worker or relevant combination or experience in Justice Field.
- Counselling skills or other relevant certificates pertaining program services
- Must be willing to take training
- Knowledge of Aboriginal restorative justice and related issues
- Must possess strong analytical, decision – making and planning skills
- Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and internet programs and office equipment
- Superior organizational, financial and time management skills
- Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and traditions
- Must be available work in weekends and evenings if needed
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Driver’s License with access to reliable vehicle
- Must adhere to FRCN Policies & Procedures, including the Illegal Drug By-law, Vaccination Policy etc.
- Must provide with Resume, Criminal Record Check, Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks.
