Casual Child-care Assistant
(On-call Basis)

First Nation Healing Centre is a non-profit organization which is currently seeking a Child-care Assistant. We’re looking for a caring, energetic, and reliable Child‑Care Assistant to join our team. This role is for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, supports their growth, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging space where children can learn, play, and build confidence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support early childhood educators in planning and implementing daily activities
  • Supervise children to ensure a safe and positive environment
  • Assist with indoor and outdoor play, creative projects, and learning experiences
  • Help with routines such as meals, rest time, and transitions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members
  • Follow all health, safety, and licensing guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children (formal or informal)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and kindly
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
  • Early Childhood Assistant certification is an asset but not required
  • Must be aware of the impact and effects of abuse on the lives of woman and children.
  • To work in an environment that must be welcoming, supportive and secure to those who seek shelter and healing.
  • Must submit a clear criminal record check, Adult and Child abuse registry check, and drug test (as per the FRCN By-Law 2004-01, Sec. 8.01);
